This paper investigates the effects of longevity and population aging on saving by using the Pooled Mean Group (PMG) approach. A distinctive feature of this study is its demonstration of the separate roles of life expectancy and old-age dependency rate. The results of this study which spans 21 countries over 1971–2012 show that, in the long run, the theoretical implications are supported by the data and the demographic variables play an important role in explaining the differences in savings over time and across countries. According to the Life Cycle Model, there is a positive long-run relationship between longevity and saving and a negative long-run relationship between old-age dependency rate and saving. The absolute value of the longevity effect is greater than that of the old-age dependency rate. In the short run, of the two demographic variables, only the old-age dependency rate has the expected sign and is significant. در سال‌های اخیر افزایش چشمگیر در امید به زندگی همراه با باروری و مرگ و میر پایین منجر به سالخوردگی جمعیت و افزایش نرخ‌های وابستگی افراد مسن شده است. با توجه به این موضوع، در این مقاله به اثرات طول عمر و نرخ وابستگی افراد مسن بر پس‌انداز با استفاده از رویکرد گروه میانگین تلفیقی (PMG) پرداخته شده است. ویژگی مطالعه حاضر این است که نقش‌های جداگانه‌ای برای امید به زندگی و نرخ وابستگی افراد مسن در نظر می‌گیرد. نتایج بررسی 21 کشور در فاصله‌ی زمانی 2012-1971 نشان می‌دهد که در بلندمدت، دلالت‌های نظری به وسیله داده‌ها حمایت شده است و متغیرهای جمعیتی نقش مهمی در تشریح تفاوت‌ها در پس‌انداز در طول زمان و در میان کشورها بازی می‌کنند. مطابق با مدل سیکل زندگی ارتباط بلندمدت مثبت بین طول عمر و پس‌انداز و ارتباط منفی بین نرخ وابستگی افراد مسن و پس‌انداز وجود دارد. مقدار مطلق اثر طول عمر بیشتر از اثر نرخ وابستگی افراد مسن است. در کوتاه‌مدت نیز از میان دو متغیر جمعیتی تنها متغیر نرخ وابستگی سنی افراد مسن معنی‌دار است و علامت مورد انتظار را دارا می‌باشد. https://ep.yazd.ac.ir/article_1071_8716f4565df01f18de49c17f1032638b.pdf
